Pharmacist - Job Overview

Schedule: Monday-Friday (7:30AM-8PM) | Saturday (7:30AM-5:30PM)

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret, clarify, and accurately transcribe medication orders to ensure patient safety and effective treatment.
  • Evaluate medication appropriateness based on diagnosis, patient history, allergies, and drug interactions.
  • Adhere to regulatory standards and ensure compliance with governing pharmacy authorities.
  • Review patient profiles to confirm proper drug selection, dosage, and administration.
  • Conduct drug utilization reviews to identify potential drug interactions, duplications, or allergies.
  • Document and address adverse drug reactions while collaborating with patients and healthcare providers.
  • Dispense medications responsibly and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Stay updated on new drugs, devices, and medical literature to promote evidence-based practices.
  • Provide health education and counseling on illness prevention, medication adherence, and family planning services.
  • Educate patients, families, and providers about pharmaceutical effects and proper storage of medications.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff to ensure professional and courteous service delivery.
  • Conduct Medication Therapy Management (MTM) activities, identify therapy gaps, and collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient care.
  • Document MTM activities, including communications and patient outcomes, ensuring proper reporting.
  • Support financial reimbursement for grants, prescription assistance programs, and 340B compliance.
  • Exhibit professionalism, compassion, and kindness in all patient and team interactions.
  • For Pharmacist-in-Charge roles: oversee pharmacy compliance, conduct staff meetings, develop policies, and manage medication-related issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited pharmacy college/university (Pharm.D or B.S. with equivalent experience).
  • Immunization certification.
  • Valid Texas Pharmacist license and Preceptor license.
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or obtain within 18 months of hire).
  • AAHIVP certification required for patient-facing roles (or obtain within 18 months).
  • Participation in Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance programs.
  • Minimum two (2) years of healthcare experience.
  • Preferred: postgraduate pharmacy residency.
  • Preferred: one (1) year or more experience in community pharmacy management, student pharmacist precepting, direct patient care, HIV/AIDS, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, Ryan White Program, ADAP, PAP, or 340B.
  • Proficient in Windows, Excel, and accounting software.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Above-average organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Preferred: Bilingual (English and Spanish).
